Laura Townend

Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Laura. I’m an integrative psychotherapist based in Leeds.

How I Work

I can help you process your emotions and experiences to find clarity. I offer a flexible approach where we work together to help you find a way forward that fits with your goals and values. I help people with a wide range of life experiences and difficulties, but I specialise in working with those who have experienced trauma. I know how empowering it can be to better understand how your mind and body work together in response to trauma and to learn practical tools so you can feel better.

In particular, I can offer a non-directive and safe space if you have experienced harm or abuse in a religious context, or if you are seeking healthier ways to practice your faith or spirituality. I have provided a list of recommended resources on this subject here.

You can work with me in-person in Headingley or online throughout the UK.

My Background

I received a Master of Arts in Counselling from Multnomah University (USA) in 2016.

I have experience working with individuals and groups in school and university settings, in community crisis teams and in-patient mental health. I started my private practice in 2021.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, meaning that I am committed to ethical and competent practice. I receive regular supervision.
